Syrian culture has made a large contribution to the arts, particularly in the Arab world. Both historically and in modern times, Syrian writers have produced a range of historic, folk and political narratives that offer insight into the writers’ world, both socially and politically.

Nayran Tabiei arrived in Australia fleeing the violent civil war in Syria. She left behind a successful career as a chef to bring her daughter to safety in Australia.

Today, Nayran uses her cooking skills to make meals for the homeless.
